"Didn't really know what to expect on an older and smallish ship but at a great deal, we were up for anything!
She was splendid and traditional in every way. What the ship didn't have (compared to the newer and larger vessels), the crew were keen to make up any way they could.
Service was excellent and the food better than I'd really expected and better than most cruises I've done in the past.
I'd recommend Funchal to anyone. The destinations were perfect but I'd also suggest anyone intending sailing her, board with an open mind and let the crew take care of the rest!

Funchal is the epitome of the "classical" cruise ship. She's small, intimate and at 10,000 gross tons, her beautiful profile, charming interiors and sheltered promenade decks is renowned for her yacht-like ambience.
Just over 570 passengers, you're in small company but on a ship loved and enjoyed by many, for 20 years and more; all over the world.
...All around the world, along the magnificent South America coastline, the Arctic Circle, the Norwegian Fjords, The Atlantic Islands, the Mediterranean Sea and recently Australia, the Funchal presently stands out one of the finest examples of classic cruise liner, whose kind is increasingly sought out by experienced cruise travellers.
She truly is as enchanting as the beautiful island of Madeira, from whose capital she takes her name.
Watch out for Athena, set to be Funchal's rival in Australian waters, she's stirring up a wave or two herself!
